Central bank speakers eyed for clues on prospects for global interest rates – Lloyds bank
Markets are waiting on central bank speakers for more clues on prospects for global interest rates, according to analysts at Lloyds Bank.
Key Quotes
“The principal focus is on tomorrow, with Chair Yellen testifying to the House and the possibility that the Bank of Canada may raise rates. Domestically, comments from the BoE’s Broadbent will be closely watched today on whether he might be inching towards higher rates, even though he voted for no policy change in June. Tomorrow’s UK labour market statistics are also important, with forecast weaker wage growth potentially reducing the likelihood of a rate rise as soon as August. The unemployment rate, however, may fall again.”
